Install Windows 7 from USB

Requirements:

Windows 7 DVD or ISO
A 4GB USB drive
Machine running Windows Vista or 7

Steps:

Make sure there is no content in the USB as it will be formatted during this process. If you have any content move it to another storage device.
In the machine running Windows Vista or 7 open the command prompt with admin rights. To do this type cmd in the search bar after clicking on start. Command prompt will show up, right click and open with admin rights.
Type DISKPART and hit enter
DISKPART prompt will start. now type LIST DISK
You should see the list of disks. Identify the USB drive and note down e.g. Disk 1
Type all commands below one after another only replacing the USB drive number as you noted in above step. For the example Disk 1 is being used.

SELECT DISK 1
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION 1
ACTIVE
FORMAT FS=NTFS
ASSIGN
EXIT

At this point you might need to close all command prompts and reopen with admin rights singulair dosage.
Insert the Windows DVD or use Virtual Clone Drive to mount the ISO file. Once the DVD is mounted – physical or virtual.
in the command prompt type D:CD BOOT where D is the drive letter for your physical or virtual DVD
Now Type CD BOOT
Type BOOTSECT.EXE /NT60 H: (where H is the drive letter for your USB – replace H with your USB drive letter)
If all goes well you should see a message ending in “Bootcode was successfully updated on all targeted volumes.”
Now copy all content from the Windows 7 DVD to your USB flash drive.
You can now boot this USB to start Windows 7 install

on RHEL or CentOS machines the install for snmp should be kept simple without setting any traps. Simple guide is as follows:

# yum install net-snmp-utils Loading "fastestmirror" plugin Loading "dellsysidplugin" plugin ... ... Dependencies Resolved

do a backup of the snmpd config file.
# mv /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf.org 
Create a new config file.
# vi /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf
rocommunity  public

syscontact  you@email.com
Start the snmpd service
# /etc/init.d/snmpd start
Do a snmpwalk to make sure it is working
# snmpwalk -v 1 -c public -O e 127.0.0.1

ClearOS installation tips

To redirect domain to your server add the domain at System->webserver.
- Default domain folder will be in var/www/html, while other domain will go to var/www/virtual.
- Set your domain to A record then fill Host with the domain addres, type choose A and value fill with your ClearOS ip public.
In some cms like Joomla that we can use apache mod rewrite in ClearOS this wont be allowed. To change it get inside your ClearOS machine directly from server using display n keyboard or putty if you plan change it from text console, more easy way was using winSCP from local network if you not used with text console. Look this file etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf, look this line “Allowoveride none” change it to “Allowoveride All”, there 2 line you must change to make it work.
In text console you can bring up text GUI by typing console_start. It usefull for basic setting for change LAN ip addres for further setup with webgui.
If you installed GUI when installing and what to disable it from booting up every server start for faster loading the you can change it at etc/inittab, look for this line “1:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty –autologin=clearconsole tty1” just remove “–autologin=clearconsole” so it will be like this “1:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty1”.
Change ClearOS logo and favicon :
- Replace the files in var/webconfig/htdocs/template/standar-5.1/images/, logo2.png for logo that appear in login web gui and at content block in content filter when use short or full report. favicon.ico for icon in above webgui.
error content filter wont start
- cause = deleted user added filter group
- fix = Create new filter group name ‘testing’, then delete those new filter grup that just made, try start the service.
Custom content filter report
- look file in etc/dansguardian-av/language then pick the language to change the html code to your liking, somehow in this ClearOS i use i can’t change the language for content filter and default was set in english.

if you want to start the iptraf simply type ‘iptraf’ (without quotes) on command line.
